<p>LANGUAGE ARTS</p>

<li>Vocabulary test week 8 on Thursday.  Be sure to complete the work in the packet to prepare for the test.</li>

<p>SPRING TRIP GROUP</p>

<li>bring all cookwear and coolers to class by Tuesday.  Be sure to include your personal dinner service in a mesh bag (or pillow case.)  NO PAPER GOODS. </li>
<li>Start checking your packing list.  A revised list is posted on this blog.  It is not too early to begin packing.</li>
<li>We desperately need gallon milk jugs frozen with water to use for our coolers.  Please bring these in by Friday!</li>

<li>Continue to work on community service.  Spring Break could be a great time to get hours.</li>

<li>Athletic Day Friday. Bring sack lunch and snacks.  Ski trip leaves 7:45 &#8211; 8:00 and returns 4:30.  Swimming Trip has regular school schedule.</li>
<li>Spring Trip group lists were posted Thursday.   Students are getting very excited!</li>

<p>LANGUAGE ARTS</p>
<ol>
<li>Career unit finished up Thursday with the sharing our careers and turning in our notes.  Students should have turned in a hard copy with a self reflection, as well as an electronic copy put in my district &#8220;drop box&#8221;.  Some students had trouble accessing the &#8220;drop box&#8221;, as the district server was having troubles.  Feel free to e-mail me the electronic copy, if you are late with your notes.</li>
<li>After Spring Break we will start a vocabulary unit, with regular tests.  Also, we will be engaging in Socratic Seminars, writing opinion paragraphs, and preparing for a video project&#8230; spring is an exciting time to have a number of things to &#8220;play with&#8221;!</li>
<li>All students should continue to read 30 minutes five nights a week.  This, and studying for vocabulary tests should be the only homework, if work sessions are used well.</li>

<li>We are using the web site,  College in Colorado, to research careers.</li>
<li>Students are taking electronic notes, which will be due Thursday, March 17.  Hopefully you will have a chance to discuss careers with your child.  We are having a lot of excitement in the lab, as students find out strengths and interests using the quizzes provided.</li>

<li>6th/ 7th grade students were given the registration forms for next year.  They were due Wednesday of last week.  They will be registering for their classes on Tuesday, when they return from the Arvada Arts day.</li>

<li>We will have CSAP preparation this whole week.  Students will be writing to prompts and doing some grammar exercises.  Games may just find their way into our study sessions.</li>

<li>8th graders should be checking out high school web site, figuring out what classes they will register for.  They should ask their current Math/ LA teachers, if they are considering advanced placement in these subjects.  Registration will be done here at Platt the last week of February.  They should know what they are signing up for by then.  Feel free to call the high school counselors, if you have questions.</li>
